School of Theology 2017 with Dr. Guy Waters

We were privileged to have Dr. Guy Prentiss Waters leading SBC’s School of Theology in 2017 with the theme: The Gospel of the Reformation.
Dr. Waters is the James M. Baird, Jr. Professor of New Testament at Reformed Theological Seminary. He has an interest in the Gospels, Pauline epistles and has addressed contemporary issues such as Justification and the New Perspective on Paul (NPP). His articles and biography can be found here.
Dr. Waters notes, “This year marks the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. The Reformation was a recovery in the church of the gospel of the grace of God. For that reason, the Reformation continues to speak to the church today. Over three days, we will reflect upon the Bible’s teaching about the salvation that Christ has won for his people. What is ‘justification,’ ‘adoption,’ and ‘sanctification’? May a Christian have assurance? Will Christians persevere to the end? Our goal is to help ourselves and others understand these vital truths in their biblical clarity and depth.”
