About SBC
Our Story
In 1901, Stanmore Baptist Church (SBC) was established by Christians who wanted to impact Sydney's "new" suburbs of Stanmore, Petersham, Annandale, Leichhardt and Newtown with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
SBC rapidly expanded and became a centre for evangelism and a base for building up the wider church. SBC had a vibrant ministry to children, supported numerous missionaries and positively impacted the community.
The Latest Chapter
The commitment by SBC's founders to reach Sydney for Jesus is still very much a part of who we are, and what we are passionate about today.
Whilst our city may have changed dramatically from its towering skyline, fast pace of life and ever growing multicultural population, some things never change. The greatest need for the people of our city is to be in a right relationship with God through Jesus.
At SBC, our desire is to equip God's people to impact God's world. This means that we work together as a team, design our ministry efforts to be relevant to the needs of those around us, and promote meaningful relationships with God, each other and the world.
We will use all God honouring means to reach 21st century Sydney with the unchanging good news of Jesus! We invite you to join us in transforming our city for the glory of God.
